Was originally going to make steam to distill essential oils using the old Lister generator but have decided to build a wood fired boiler instead. As this project makes progress will post pictures and such into this thread. Below my first purchase, a sight glass to observe the water level inside
Does anyone here work with combi oil boilers. .The cold water supply is pressuring the central heating very slowly, and then blowing the relief valve. Re: best boiler for the buck Wet based boilers have been around for a long time now. The problem is..most homeowners look at the bottom line which is "price" and most decide to go with the standard boiler instead. I'm not as knowledgeable as my father when it comes to steam, but I know some care needs to be taken.
One subject curiously missing from this photo threads sub-forum. I'm a big fan of boiler rooms and boilers in abandoned locations, it would seem that every medium-sized and upward place has one somewhere to provide heat and they sometimes are one of the only things left in place if somewhere is stripped.

Biomass Boilers. Discussion in 'Renewable Energy & Energy Saving' started by Because of the high modulation range and the low-per-kW-installed cost of fossil fuel boilers, plumbers have become lax with heat calculations and simply bang in over-size kit. and there should be a discussion about the highs of winter demand and the lows of

As of my test yesterday, water boils into steam at a little over 102 o C. The steam forms at 100 o C. This means that 2 o C * 4.179 DTU are lost in the boiling process. Steam condenses back to water at about 97 o C and the water appears at that temperature, so no DTU appear to be gained.. This means that overall, 8.36 DTU/g of thermal energy should be lost every time the liquid boils and

Problem is that burner + heat sink + 3 boilers takes 5 tiles and is limited by the capacity of the boilers to convert heat into cash - something that gets prohibitively expensive to upgrade. (Upgrading a level 7 boiler is 600+ Billion.) Burner + generator + 3 boilers produces almost as much cash plus the power the generator puts out.

Welcome to the forum. As Broadgage says the 200A supply will not be big enough for the connected loads. I agree that there is a very good chance that the boilers in cold weather will all be on at the same time plus some of the other connected loads.

The 'control' for the boilers and the balance of plant is via an Emerson DeltaV DCS with a separate controller for each boiler. The BMS is a Hima H51q, one for each boiler, with hardwired liks between the DCS for interloacks and control and serial links for other data transfer.

IIRC Class c is boilers only, b is boiler and equipment, and a is both b and c plus a turbine. You can get a special license by taking the test and passing, 2nd class requires 1 year of operating experince, 3 years for a 1st class and 5 years for a chief boiler's license.
Re: Outside wood boilers Hey solarvic, the ones I'm aware of here usually don't use a heat exchanger, perhaps they should. The bigger concerns among local owners appears to be the relatively short life of the outdoor furnace before they spring leaks (perhaps due to them not being sealed systems) the inefficiency resulting in much higher wood consumption than they were used to with their

Re: Electric heated boilers.. « Reply #4 on: April 07, 2020, 06:31:34 pm » most electrically heated Steam engines have ample enough power to keep the safety valve lifted most of the time, the variac reduces power thus prolongs run time, much like turning down the fuel on a gas or flame fired heat supply.
